About Me

My name is Rosie and I am most definitely am a SUPERMAMA.  I have 2 adorable kidlets SE and C, who have Autism.  I'm also married to an active duty soldier.  Right now I'm a fitness instructor and a stay at home mom.  I have two Bachelor's degrees, one in Education and one in Nursing.  I've been both a high school teacher and a registered nurse working on a cardiac unit.  So then why in the world am I a fitness intructor and stay at home mom?!?!  Well, it's simple really, my boys' needs are very intense.  Both have therapists that visit us at home and I have EIGHT different people that come into my house weekly.  EIGHTAnd that doesn't count the therapies that happen when SE goes to preschool 4 times a week.  So let's talk about house cleanliness anxiety!  You know that feeling you get when you know people are coming over to your house and you don't want them to see how you REALLY live.  That cleaning?  I do it daily. *SMH*

So when I'm not talking with therapists, running from room to room to check on what each individual kid is doing with their therapist, looking for an OT that will work in our schedule, making notes for IEPs, planning meals, investigating supplements for the family, writing grocery lists, cleaning, doing laundry and strategizing where we're going with therapies (Supermama).....I workout.  I gained 65lbs with SE, lost 40lbs and then got pregnant with C and gained 35lbs--probably only 35 because I was in nursing school and my husband deployed when I was 3 mo pregnant, which meant I delivered C with my best friend holding my left leg instead of my husband (trust me we're REALLY close now...lol.).  And that experience also made me a Supermama! My highest weight was 195lbs in January of 2012 and my lowest has been 151.5lbs in August of 2012.  I'm currently sitting at 155lbs with a goal weight of 145lbs.  I feel like parents should set a good example health wise for their children, and mine are no different.

With this blog I will highlight our ups and downs, triumphs and failures.  One thing that really stands out to me about us special needs parents is that we are often so caught up in our children's therapies that we forget to take care of ourselves.  We need to remember.....what would happen to my children if something happened to me?!?!  A thought I don't like to entertain very often, but is a very real consequence of not taking care of yourself.  I like to call fitness for special needs families being.....FIT FOR THE FIGHT.  So...let's take this journey together and have some laughs along the way!

  1. I checked your blog out from IG. I am in awe of you. I know that you do all you do because you love your babies (and I would do the same), but you truly are remarkable. I will keep following your blog. Thank you for sharing your family with us.
